Citizens worldwide do not want to be taxed. Likewise, governments do not always want to introduce new taxes but it happens in every government. It is a necessary evil. The E-levy is not different. 


The E-levy is being introduced to expand the tax base so that domestic tax mobilization will be increased. This will help reduce our dependence on external support in terms of loans, etc. Every dime acrued from the e-levy goes back to the public in terms of infrastructural and social development.


The NDC is exploiting the situation for political expediency. They introduced numerous taxes when they were in government. They are so desperate to the extent that they have ignored strong and pointful arguments put forward by experts including their own Seth Tekper to support the e-levy. LET’S SUPPORT THE E-LEVY. The NDC position on it is pure propaganda! Senior NDC officials have contradicted themselves when asked whether or not they will abolish it when they return to government. This is a clear case of DISHONESTY on the part of the NDC.
